LFF08: Bigmouth strikes again, a collection of short by the London Film Festival 2008

finally i have managed to watch shorts at the LFF. tickets purchased well in advance, a lot of planning to avoid overbooking ourselves in too many film.

K. – uk – not sure. good as a documentary on life in the trailer parks (in Kent?) but not sure what else. Great photography and a strange mix of agro-industrial scenery which however cannot save the short.

Haze – singapore – not much about it…

Frankie – Ireland – probably the best. well shot, well written, well played and well cast. great rhythm. looks like very mature cinema for a short.

Tight jeans – UK – 3 black kids wait for a fourth outside one of the council estates in Deptford and since they are there they come up with some hilarious misconceptions about life, sex, color, race etc. nice comedy great dialogue, simple.

Buses and trains – Australia – pointless violence – we have too much. well shot, but not so interesting.

Spending the night – Sweden – 2 teenager and a empty house for the evening, an iranian move on tape and cheese toasts. but it doesn’t work. well shot and played but not much about it.

Ralph – UK – good idea, a chav lost in marseille looking for his girl; however the plot is rushed at the end, not developed; and the quality of filming is really poor, again especially towards the end. maybe something went wrong in the production? however very good idea and nicely done in the first half.
