movie reviews: Knowing

BEWARE: it contains spoilers

good old nick plays, for a change, a tormented soul.. he is a physics professor at mit with a clever little boy of the right age to be asking all the questions of the world.

they have lost a wife and a mother, and they haven’t still recovered fully, also because they live in a house which is a funeral house; a sad and remote house in the middle of a chilling forest populated by all sorts of germanic spirits..

anyway this is not a story of ghosts, at least not in the literal sense.

confronted with something really hard to comprehend and accept, the professor reacts in a rather strange way. he gets a gun…

yes, when it looks like he is dealing with something without precedent, something either alien or supernatural this champion of rationalism-gone-all-soft because he lost his wife, buys a gun!!

anyway the gun is not the story, only an anomaly.

the movie ends as it promised to do since the beginning, no surprises, following the canons of hollywood.

in that the movie is really nothing special, if not yet another of the series:  ”catastrophic ends of the world with aliens that save only few chosen ones (just 2?).

there is something good at the core of this movie that could have fruited a much better and less predictable movie, but that would have been another movie, not this one.
