movie review: Up in the airit reminded me a bit of fight club but without the fight clubs. a man has the shittiest of jobs, it consists in travelling across the country to fire people, and he lives a “single serving” life constantly on the move: hotel after hotel, flight after flight. his life is so miserable that he is trying to win the shittiest of prizes: reach 10 mln miles on his frequent flyer. it’s a relatively good movie for an american movie and it doesn’t even have the mandatory happy ending. it’s a rather minimalist movie, cutting through the life of almost real people, if ever slightly exaggerated, and then letting then go on with their lives, without injecting any “BS” hollywood factor. It’s the same director of Juno. |
