ebay paypal mattieh1975 (ebay trader) and the fake (counterfeit) kingston stick: bad ebay, bad paypal and bad mattieh1975!! (Updated: maybe bad Kingston too?)

so this is the latest of my unfortunate purchases: a Kngston 32GB USB memory stick from (what seemed) a good rated ebay seller. I was so stupid to give good feedback as soon as I received the usb stick and then i gave it to my girlfriend (as a gift, she needed it for work).

a month later finally she used it for the first time (yes I know, I should have tested it sooner!). Files could be copied to the stick but copying back would not work. Anything copied to the stick would be corrupted and unreadable.

Another week went by, with me testing and formatting the stick and trying all things.

Finally i had to admit, the usb stick was faulty. I opened a case with Kingston (the auction had promised 5 years warranty – which was also written on the packaging of the stick) and eventually discovered (after sending them pictures of the item), that it is in fact a FAKE, a counterfeit Kingston product.

I opened a case with ebay and they said: open a case with paypal. I opened a dispute with paypal and they said: our “protection policy” doesn’t cover for the “quality goods”. the trader of course is not even answering my email and as I said I was stupid enough to give him great feedback too soon.

It’s the first time something like this happens to me but I will make sure it’s the last too.

I should reconsider putting my money into paypal and ebay and instead maybe put it back in my community, so that shops won’t close all around my area and people will have job. Enough with ebay and paypal. Sure, it’s easy and convenient with our silly lifestyles to buy from the internet but as you can see and as you probably know better than i do it’s not always a happy ending.

beware of trader mattieh1975 on ebay and of his fake products and don’t be too quick with your feedback. And it looks like I am not the only victim of this trader (click to open a linked website).

PS: it looks like I was a real rookie!! Look what else I found about our friend mattieh1975 (click to open link)

A friend found this article on Gizmondo: it appears that Kingston itself could be involved in using low quality
