21/04/2013 Imax london There is a hint of a good movie in a particular in the plot that I will not mention because it would be a major spoiler. But it’s just a hint. The movie is mostly boring and uninteresting. The designs of the floating home are interesting. Ronald D. Moore, the creator of Battlestar Galactica Re-imagined 2004-2009 developed a new series in 2011 for a TV network, assembled a super cast (mostly from BSG) and made a pilot which remains officially unaired. Apparently it’s “Harry Potter for grownups” (from Wikipedia). Anyway the series was not picked up and the pilot has remained [...] the same colleague who reminded me of Mission to Mars (2000) , the Brian De Palma movie, suggested this second trip-to-Mars based movie, “Red Planet”, also released in 2000. while re-watching Mission to Mars was inspiring and I watched it twice, watching for the first time Red Planet, was not pleasant at all. It goes to [...] I just discovered that Neal Stephenson has a new book coming out in Sept 2011, REAMDE, looks like it’s based on README the typical text file we all know and most of people ignore. There is a sneak preview available on Facebook (why Neal, why not venture into Google+ instead of the empire of evil [...] One word: disappointment (pun intended). No, I am not entirely correct of truthful. I wasn’t expecting anything. I went just because I am a sci-fi fan and hope is the last to die. And don’t get me started on how the movie ends. It’s just a hook for the forthcoming second episode, I guess. |
